Victoria C. Kelly
PARTNER
Victoria “Vicki” Kelly is a partner at Sefton Kelly Family Law, where she helps clients navigate divorce and complex family law matters with clarity, steady guidance, and practical strategy. She understands that family law cases are deeply personal and often filled with uncertainty. Her approach focuses on helping clients understand their options, prepare for what’s ahead, and make informed decisions with confidence.
Vicki represents clients in matters involving divorce, parenting issues, child support, domestic violence, post-decree disputes, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. She is known for her ability to analyze difficult situations thoughtfully, identify practical solutions, and remain grounded when situations become emotionally charged. Clients appreciate Vicki’s direct communication style, attention to detail, and ability to make complex legal issues feel clear and manageable. She believes clients deserve honest guidance throughout the process, including both the good news and the hard news, so they can make informed decisions and move forward prepared for what comes next.
While Vicki is a strong advocate in the courtroom, she does not approach family law as a performance of aggression. She believes experience and sound judgment matter more than unnecessary conflict. Her clients benefit from her ability to recognize when a matter requires firm litigation strategy and when a more measured approach will better protect what matters most and make a workable future possible.
Vicki has a particular passion for adoption matters and finds deep fulfillment in helping families move into a new chapter with stability and hope. One of the most meaningful parts of her work is hearing from former clients long after their cases are resolved and learning how they and their children are doing.
In addition to representing clients, Vicki is highly involved in staying current on developments in Illinois Family Law. She prepares monthly case law updates for the DuPage Family Law Committee and regularly shares legal insights through speaking engagements and professional education opportunities. She is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association, and the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers.
Vicki is also proud to have served as the DuPage County Bar Association Family Law Chair and as President of The DuPage Association of Women Lawyers. In 2021, she was awarded the DCBA Board of Directors Award for her leadership as the Family Law Chair. She again received the award in 2025 when she co-chaired the Women’s History Month Celebration.
She is the recipient of the 2015–2016 DuPage County Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award and has been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a “Rising Star” attorney from 2016-2024. In both 2024 and 2025, Vicki was recognized as a Super Lawyer by the same publication. She was also named an Emerging Lawyer in 2018–2020. Vicki co-authored A Requirement of Life Insurance to Secure a Maintenance Award Allowable Under New Law (2012) and Modern Maintenance: Conflicting Views on the Applicability of Amended Maintenance Guidelines Create Uncertainty (2020), both published in the DuPage County Bar Association Brief.
Beyond her legal practice, Vicki’s greatest priority is her family and raising her two daughters. She is an avid runner, a dedicated Chicago sports fan, and someone who values consistency, resilience, and showing up for the people who depend on her.
Vicki earned her B.A. in Finance from Quincy University, graduating Summa Cum Laude while also competing on the university softball team. She received her Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law, where she served as Joint Chief Justice of the Moot Court Society, completed more than 60 hours of pro bono service, and received the Greatest Contribution to Advocacy Award for the Class of 2008.
